The project aim to locate and decipher the groundwater quality, types, and hydrogeochemical reactions which are responsible for elevated concentration of contaminants concentration in the Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh, India. Groundwater samples, quality data and other ancillary information were used for 26 villages in the Chhindwara District, M.P. India.

Chhindwara district lies in parts of the Narmada and Godavari basins and Wainganga sub-basin in India. The project study area is 11,850 sq. km., latitudes 21º28′ to 22º50′ N and longitudes 78º15′ to 79º25′ E.
